I have had my hoop earrings pulled out of my ears on two separate occasions

Question:

I have had my hoop earrings pulled out of my ears on two separate occasions. Now the earlobes are scarred and ugly. I also can’t wear earrings anymore. Can otoplasty repair this scar tissue?

Answer:

The earlobes can be repaired, but this is not what is typically called otoplasty. I often treat torn, scarred earlobes. The surgery is done under local anesthesia and takes about 20 minutes per ear. I usually re-pierce the ears after 4 or 5 weeks.
