What’s the typical post-op period like after eyelid surgery in Philadelphia? I can take only 2 weeks’ vacation from work, no more, and I would like to know if this is sufficient time. What can I expect to look like going back to work after that 2 week period?
Typically, my patients take one week off of work for a blepharoplasty in Philadelphia. The post op period is not difficult and not painful. If you take off 2 weeks that is more than enough. Good luck.
My eyebrows have been drooping and it makes me look fatigued. I heard that a forehead lift can help me. How does the surgery work?
A forehead lift also known as a browlift is a surgical procedure that replaces the forehead and brows in a higher position that is seen in more youthful patients. This surgery makes patients look much more awake and alert and youthful. Eyelid lifts (Blepharoplasties) are usually combined with forehead lifts/browlifts to complete the rejuvenation of this area.
I have chronic dry eyes but would like to have both upper and lower blepharoplasty. Is it possible for this surgery to damage my tear ducts?
Theoretically, it is possible for blepharoplasty to damage the tear ducts, but I have done over a thousand of these surgeries and not had any injuries to the tear ducts. In any case, the tear ducts don’t make tears or even bring the tears to the eyes. The tear ducts drain the tears from the eyes into the nose. If they were injured, this would not make the eyes drier. In fact, if the tear ducts were blocked, this would increase the amount of tears in your eyes and help dryness.
I think I would like a brow lift. I have forehead wrinkles, and I think a lift would pull up my brows enough so that they don’t overshadow my eyes. I don’t understand the procedure for the lift. Where is the incision? Is any skin removed? What type of sedation would I be under?
There are a number of different browlift procedures. The coronal and endoscopic procedures have incisions in the hair bearing scalp, the pretrichial browlift has an incision right at the start of the hairline and the midforehead browlift has incisions in the forehead creases. The coronal, pretrichial and midforehead procedures do remove skin or scalp. These procedures are typically done under sedation or general anesthesia.
I had a browlift and it didn’t solve the problem that I was attempting to solve. Now I would like you to solve the original problem, which is that the skin on my upper lid hangs over my eyes. I can’t even see my eyeshadow when I put it on. Would blepharoplasty resolve this problem once and for all?
Yes, it sounds like you need an upper lid blepharoplasty. A well done upper lid blepharoplasty will remove all of the loose skin hanging over your eyeshadow and it will make your eyes look bigger and more open. The difference can be dramatic.
