I recently had corrective rhinoplasty to remove a nasal implant. It was taken out after 3 years because it was very unnatural looking. It’s been 2 months since the surgery and I still see that my nose appears larger than it was in its original state. Is it possible that my nose might never revert back to its original state? Would this be caused my scar tissue or swelling (although it doesn’t really feel like it’s still swollen)?
It is possible that you are seeing scar tissue under the skin that is making your nose larger or it could be swelling that will resolve. I would have to see you to get a better idea of what the problem is. Steroid injections will likely take care of either issue.
I have naturally white teeth and get quite a few compliments on my smile. But as I have gotten older, I notice that my lips seem to be less full than they used to be. I would like to have lip enhancement using the most highly recommended injectable filler. Is collagen still the best material for lips? Are there other lip fillers now?
Yes, there are fillers that we use now that are much better then collagen. I have not used collagen in five or six years. The newer hyaluronic acid fillers are much better in that they last between 7 to 12 months which is 2-3 times longer then collagen. They are very well tolerated and rarely cause problems. No allergy testing is needed as opposed to collagen. These fillers are Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane and Juvederm Ultra Plus.
I have extensive wrinkling on my cheeks. I would like a laser skin resurfacing treatment to make my face look younger. How effective is the laser treatment in removing the deeper wrinkles? Is this a painful procedure?
Yes, I use Fraxel Repair Laser Resurfacing to treat cheek and other facial wrinkles. The treatment is very effective. The most effective results are achieved with the combination of a mini-or standard facelift with post surgery Fraxel treatment. There is some discomfort during the procedure, but not afterwards. I use strong numbing cream and numbing injections before to make it more comfortable. Fraxel Repair is the most up to date, most effective laser with a much shorter downtime then the old fashioned lasers.
I would love to have my lips enhanced but I am worried about horror story complications. What type of filler do you use for the lips? What complications are associated with that filler? Can the filler be removed if the final results are not exactly what I want?
I use the hyaluronic acid fillers for lips- either Restylane or Juvederm. These fillers are very well tolerated and complications are virtually nonexistent. It is possible to have an allergic reaction to these fillers, but I have not see this in many thousands of injections. It is possible to have an outbreak of cold sores if you are one of those patients who has been exposed to this virus and gets these outbreaks. If so, I would treat you with Valtrex to prevent this. There are other very, very rare possible complications that are unforseen as with any medication. Yes, if you didn’t like the result, it can be erased with a medication called hyaluronidase.
I love the idea of injectable fillers. I would like fillers to fill in my cheeks so my nasolabial folds are not as pronounced. Which injectable filler do you use for this area of the face? How long do the results last?
I use the hyaluronic acic fillers- Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane and Juvederm Ultra Plus. Perlane and Juvederm Ultra Plus last a year or longer typically. Patient satisfaction is very high with these fillers. They are particularly good for the nasolabial folds.
