Laser treatment

Question:

I would like a laser skin resurfacing treatment for my face, mostly to reduce the fine wrinkles but I also have several age spots that I would like removed. Is this the recommended treatment what I have in mind? Would the Fraxel laser be best?

Answer:

Yes, the Fraxel Repair laser is excellent for fine wrinkles and for sun damage/age spots. This is the most advanced, up to date laser for skin rejuvenation with the quickest downtime. Patients have been very happy with their results.

Question:

It seems to me that injections into the lip would hurt. I would like lip augmentation, but I am worried about the pain. What injectable filler do you routinely use on the lips? Do you first apply a topical anesthetic before you do the injections? What size needle do you use?

Answer:

The lips are very sensitive, but I do a number of things to take care of the pain. I do use a very strong numbing cream for 1 hour before the injections and I do have Restylane that has lidocaine, a numbing agent in the syringe. Also, for patients that want their lips completely numb for the injections, I do nerve blocks which are injections of lidocaine in 4 locations-2 in the cheek and 2 on the chin which make the lips totally numb for the injections. I like Restylane and Juvederm for lip augmentation.

Question:

I am a 46 year old female, back on the dating scene after almost two decades. I would like a procedure that will tighten up my face overall. I would like to know more about your non-surgical alternatives for facelifts.

Answer:

The best nonsurgical facial rejuvenation procedure out there is Fraxel Repair Laser Resurfacing. Fraxel Repair gives excellent results with minimal downtime. I also use lots of injecibles such as Botox, Dysport, Restylane, PerlaneJuvederm and Juvederm Ultra Plus. These injectibles also give excellent results with minimal to no downtime.

Question:

I have been looking for an aggressive carbon dioxide laser treatment and I think that Fraxel repair is what I want. Is this done under local anesthesia? Is it an office procedure? How long does treatment of the whole face take?

Answer:

Yes, Fraxel Repair Laser Resurfacing is the latest technology in laser resurfacing. It is a carbon dioxide laser that treats many, many tiny areas with microscopic bits of laser energy. Because it treats only tiny areas of skin and leaves  other tiny areas untouched, the skin heals much faster then traditional laser resurfacing which takes an entire layer of the skin off. It is an office procedure and it is done under local anesthesia. It takes about 1/2 hour to do the entire face.
