Chin Augmentation and Reduction – Serving the Philadelphia Main Line Suburbs

If you feel your chin is too large, too small, or needs improvement in some way, you may want to consider chin augmentation or reduction surgery. Facial plastic surgeon Jonathan Pontell serves Delaware, the Philadelphia Main Line suburbs, and Media, Pennsylvania with beautiful facial cosmetic surgery results. A chin augmentation or chin reduction procedure can improve the overall aesthetics of the face by balancing facial features.

Cosmetic Chin Surgery

A chin that is too large can make other features of the face seem small and out of balance. A recessive or weak chin may detract from other features of the face, or create the appearance of oversized facial features. A chin augmentation or chin reduction procedure at our Philadelphia-area office in Media, Pennsylvania, near Delaware may improve the overall balance of the face and create the beautiful look you desire. Our team of facial plastic surgery professionals will work with you one-on-one, answer your questions, and show you with digital imaging exactly how cosmetic chin surgery can enhance your facial features.

Chin Augmentation Surgery

With the precision of an artist, Dr. Jonathan Pontell understands the delicate harmony of the facial features, and the importance of a strong chin and jaw line. One way to achieve facial balance is through chin augmentation surgery, performed at Dr. Pontell's Philadelphia-area office in Media, Pennsylvania. By placing a chin implant, Dr. Pontell enhances the facial balance and aesthetics of patients who have a weak or recessed chin. Although this procedure is often overlooked by patients, it can be the simplest method of achieving the beautiful balance that patients desire. If the chin is not strong, the nose, eyes, and mouth may appear too large. Chin augmentation surgery is a straightforward procedure with little downtime that can dramatically enhance the entire face.

During the chin augmentation procedure, Dr. Pontell will place an implant through a small incision made underneath the chin. Chin implants come in many different shapes and sizes and are made of several different materials. They can also be shaped specifically to complement the patient's facial features. After the implant has been selected and placed, Dr. Pontell will close the incision with sutures.

Healing after chin augmentation surgery is remarkably fast. Although some patients may initially have trouble with facial movements, such as talking or chewing, chin surgery patients should return to normal within a few days. The incision usually heals very well. If you live in the Philadelphia Main Line suburbs and want to learn more about chin augmentation, visit our office in Media, Pennsylvania near Delaware or contact Dr. Pontell to set up a personal consultation.

Chin Reduction Surgery

Chin reduction surgery is a cosmetic procedure that can bring balance and symmetry to the face and create a more pleasing profile. A chin that juts out too far or is oversized can impact the appearance of other facial features. Chin reduction surgery can produce a defined chin that balances and even complements the contour and size of other facial features.

During the chin reduction procedure, Dr. Pontell will make incisions either in the inside of the lip or the underside of the chin. Much like chin augmentation surgery, there is little or no post-surgical scarring with chin reduction surgery due to the inconspicuous placement of the incisions.

Through these incisions, Dr. Pontell will reshape and remove some of the bone structure to create an aesthetic balance. Patients will still have a strong jaw line, but no longer will the chin overpower other features of the face. If the chin needs further definition, liposuction may be used to help define the chin and neck.

Cosmetic procedures often have the added benefit of boosting confidence. After a cosmetic surgery such as a chin reduction procedure, our Philadelphia-area patients often find a newfound sense of pride in their appearance.

Other Associated Procedures

For a more dramatic change to facial features, Dr. Pontell may recommend undergoing rhinoplasty at the same time as a chin augmentation or reduction procedure. Rhinoplasty and chin surgery are often performed in conjunction because both the nose and chin complement each other in the overall balance and proportion of the face. During your consultation, talk to Dr. Pontell about other procedures that he can recommend to enhance your features, such as a facelift, brow lift, or blepharoplasty procedure.
