I recall at my first consultation with you, that in response to my concern about looking overdone, you said that “you wouldn’t know how to do that”. That statement gave me the confidence to move ahead with my plans for lower facelift and eyelid lift surgery, in spite of the apprehension. Your quiet self-assurance was very encouraging.
You have tremendous surgical skills. Absolutely no one including my family and close friends, has been able to tell that I had work done. They just think that I look great ( and I do too).
Because I work in the beauty business, I understand the anxiety that men and women can have about their appearance and the level of scrutiny that can result. My year anniversary is quickly approaching and I am compelled to write you this letter to express my appreciation, as well as commend your hospital staff at St. Francis Hospital in Delaware, and your office staff in Paoli, Pennsylvania. Since the age of 16, several doctors told me that I needed to have a turbinectomy and septoplasty performed because of being unable to breath through both sides of my nose. I was apprehensive, as I had always wanted to include a rhinoplasty. I suppose I did not have enough faith in those doctors to deliver what I expected and put off the operation until last year when I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. After months of research, I decided to see you to discuss what would be involved in doing all 3 operations at the same time. We discussed correcting my breathing problems as well as fixing the bump on my nose and making the nasal tip smaller. You were extremely patient and thorough as you walked me through what to do pre-op to prepare, what happened during the operation, what to expect post-op, the aftercare I would receive from you, as well as what I could expect for facial plastic surgery results. Your professionalism and honesty in discussing realistic expectations erased any doubts. Therefore, we went ahead with the operation. What a difference! My scar is not the slightest bit visible, I am finally able to breath through both sides of my nose at the same time, my nose finally looks exactly as the way my mind's eye had envisioned and the good night's sleep is absolutely priceless!

Happy New Year! In the year 2004, I hope that you make many people as happy as you have made me. I wanted you to know that my facelift far exceeded my expectations. I have had many compliments, but most important is the way that I feel. You have taken many years off of my appearance, especially my neck and chin. It looks better than it did when I was in my twenties.
Talking to others who have gone through similar surgeries, I feel the care that I received far surpassed what they experienced. I know we all have a different tolerance for pain, however, on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest, I feel my pain was 1 or less. It was hard for me to believe. I could have easily returned to work in two weeks.
Once again, I wanted to thank you. I feel very blessed and fortunate to have Dr. Pontell for my doctor. I am writing this letter to you to express my sincere appreciation for the truly caring and professional medical treatment I received from you over the past five months at Tripler Army Medical Center.
I was born with a birthmark on my nose during my youth and it was not too noticeable. Over the years, however, due to a viral infection, the mark grew quite considerably in size and became very uncomfortable and disfiguring. I saw several doctors to no avail; as they viewed the procedure a high risk one. Many not wanting to proceed, due to the growths close proximity to my eyes.
While under your care I never had any doubts, misgivings, or anxieties about the treatment and reconstructive surgery I was to receive. Your patient and detailed explanations, and your truly caring and honest demeanor, never once made me feel doubtful or apprehensive. You treated me as if I was the only patient you had and never made me feel rushed or hurried. This is rare in today's hectic paced society.
When I look in the mirror now, I can hardly believe the transformation of my nose and overall appearance. It is truly amazing and I know that it is a result of your trained hands as a plastic surgeon.
Under your care, I have come to fully understand the meaning of a dedicated and caring physician. The polite, informative and understanding manner in which you consistently treated me with will never be forgotten.
