CAN OLDER SCARS BE REVISED?
I have a large scar on my abdomen from emergency appendectomy surgery years ago. Can older scars be revised? How long is the revision procedure? Aren’t there new scar reduction products I can put on it as it heals to prevent scarring again?
Yes, old scars can still be revised. Scar revision procedures typically involve a simple surgical removal of the old scar and a re-closure of the wound. There are a number of variations on this basic procedure that make sense in certain circumstances. Yes, there are scar treatment products that can help the healing process and minimize scars. I believe in silicone sheeting after a scar revision to help the healing process.
