Facelift

As men and women age, the breakdown of collagen, repeated facial movements, gravity and the environment all begin to take their toll on the face and skin, causing fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging to appear on the forehead and around the mouth and eyes. Instead of seeking the help of an experienced facial cosmetic surgeon, some people try to combat the signs of aging with professional skin care treatments that may improve the skin's elasticity and texture. Although these treatments can improve the appearance of the skin, often skin care treatments alone do not provide the dramatic results that patients hope to achieve.

A facelift, performed by the highly skilled Philadelphia facelift surgeon, Dr. Jonathan Pontell, can reduce wrinkles on the face and around the forehead, mouth, and eyes. At The Aesthetic Facial Plastic Surgery Center, a facelift gives patients a refreshed and rejuvenated look without making them appear "over-processed." Jonathan Pontell, MD, is an experienced Pennsylvania / South New Jersey facelift surgeon who has mastered several advanced forms of facelift surgery. At his Philadelphia-area offices, Dr. Jonathan Pontell offers several options for facelift surgery that can be tailored to your individual needs. Dr. Pontell will assess your face and skin type and help determine what procedure will be the best for you.

Few facial plastic surgery procedures have stood the test of time as well as the traditional facelift surgery. Performed in our Philadelphia facelift surgery offices and local hospitals or surgicenters, facelift can tighten loose, sagging skin, muscles, and jowls. During the procedure, incisions are made just below the hairline, in natural creases in front of the ears, in the creases behind the ears and down the hairline behind the ear. After the incision is made, Dr. Pontell removes excess skin, fat, and tissue that cause wrinkles on the face. He also tightens facial muscles, which results in noticeably less sagging of the facial skin. After repositioning the skin and placing sutures, Dr. Pontell wraps the treated area in bandages.

Recovery after facelift surgery is usually two weeks or less. There will be some swelling, numbness, and discoloration of the skin following surgery. The head should be kept still and elevated for the first five days. Stitches are removed within the first ten days after surgery.

As the face heals, most patients find their facial appearance to be rejuvenated. If you are interested in facelift surgery, contact Dr. Jonathan Pontell, serving the Main Line suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, South New Jersey, and Delaware. By performing a simple facelift procedure, Dr. Pontell will help you get back that young, radiant look you once had. In conjunction with the expert team working in our Media, Pennsylvania office near Delaware and Philadelphia, Dr. Pontell is prepared to help you achieve your aesthetic goals and dreams.

Mini-Facelift

A mini-facelift is a shorter, simpler alternative to a full facelift. Performed under local anesthesia, the mini lift tightens loose skin around the jowls, cheeks, and neck without requiring the patient to undergo major surgery. Unlike the traditional facelift, the mini facelift is performed frequently in our Philadelphia-area office; the mini facelift also requires fewer incisions and less healing time than a conventional facelift procedure.

Reverse Mid-Face Lift Surgery

Sagging skin, the descent of cheek fat, deep nasolabial folds, and the loss of cheek fullness can make people look older than they actually are. In the reverse mid-face lift, also called nasolabial fold excision, excess skin is removed and wrinkles are erased specifically around the mouth, jowls, and cheeks.

Most of our reverse facelift Philadelphia patients find that recovery after this procedure is shorter than after a conventional facelift procedure. If you would like to learn how you can benefit from this procedure, please contact our Media, Pennsylvania facial cosmetic surgery office to learn more about the mid-face lift procedure.
